Rector's Day 2025
This year's Rector's Day will take place on Wednesday, 15 October 2025, once again in the spirit of socialising and getting to know each other. We invite you to take a day off from your everyday commitments on Rector's Day and add your own little piece to the mosaic of team spirit.
- FOR STUDENTS
On 15 October 2025, students are invited to take part in the traditional Autumn Clean 10. The event, organised by the UŠZP and the SUP, will see university teams competing in a variety of sporting and less sporting disciplines with the aim of winning the Clean Ten Transitional Cup. Students who will not be competing are invited to cheer on the performers at Arena Bonifika in Koper.
- FOR STUDENTS AND STAFF
UP employees will have a rich programme of workshops, hikes, excursions and other meetings on Rector's Day, to which students are also invited. Some events require registration to facilitate their organisation. Based on last year's survey, we have tried to make it possible to attend several events during the day, and we are repeating some of them so that you can visit them over the years.
PROGRAMME
Below you will find an overview of the programme by strand. You are invited to read the full programme and combine the activities from the different parts. Please pay attention to the language of the activity (SI/ENG/ITA)
The application form is the same for all parts of activities and the deadline for applications is Monday 13 October 2025 at 12:00.
*Exact locations will be known shortly. We reserve the right to change the programme. If there are any changes, we will inform you before the activity.

CULTURAL & SOCIAL PROGRAMME
- Quiet morning get-together with the UP Book Club | difficulty level 1 | 8.15-9.30 | UP UK | SI/ENG
Quiet get-togethers are becoming an increasingly popular way to socialize—we organized our first one last year at the UP Book Club as part of National Shared Reading Month. How does it work? You come, grab a coffee or tea, sit down, turn off your phones, and at the signal, an hour of reading begins (from 8.30 to 9.30). Bring whatever book you are currently reading. During the reading, the reading room will be closed, allowing for an hour of complete peace so that you can truly devote yourself to one activity and calm down. After the reading, you can chat with your fellow readers and exchange reading experiences. (Activity led by: Tina Lekan Kraševec, UP Book Club, UP UK)
- Tour of the Collegio dei Nobili building in Koper | difficulty level 1 | 9.00 and 11.00 | Collegio dei Nobili, Koper | ITA (max 20)
The former Collegio dei Nobili building now houses a secondary school with Italian as the language of instruction (Ginnasio Gian Rinaldo Carli) and a primary school with Italian as the language of instruction (Scuola Pier Paolo Vergerio il Vecchio). It is the oldest school building in Slovenia, where classes have been held continuously since 1683. We will tour the building with its furnishings and the well-organized school museum. The tour will be conducted in Italian. The number of places is limited to a maximum of 20, and the tours will take place at 9.00 and 11.00. If there are fewer registrations, the tour will only take place at 9.00. (Activity led by: Tina Jazbec, UP)

The members of the association are also preparing a surprise exercise for everyone. The activity will be conducted in Slovenian. (Activity led by: Marija Colja, UP)
WORKSHOPS
- Energy flow between people | difficulty level 1 | 8.00 - 9.00 | UP* | SI
Presentation of energy flow between people. (Activity led by: Mateja Vodopija, UP)
- Citing sources in five steps | difficulty level 1 | 9.00 - 10.30 | UP FTŠ Turistica - Computer classroom | SI/ENG
Participants will be introduced to Zotero, a free and open-source citation tool that helps students, teachers, and researchers with scientific writing. With its help, knowledge of citation styles (APA, Chicago, IEEE...) is of secondary importance, as it enables automation at almost every step. The workshop will try to convince you that there is almost no argument against using this type of software. Citation in five steps means: 1. find the source, 2. import it into your database, 3. check the accuracy of the data, 4. insert the source into your text, 5. check the accuracy of the list of sources.
We will work together on specific examples. There will also be time for various questions. The number of participants is usually limited to 20, which is the number of computers in the computer classroom at Turistica, and priority is given to those who register earlier. If you bring your laptop with you, or if you will only be passively following the workshop, there may be an additional 10 places available, so please indicate this when registering. Take advantage of the Rector's Day to acquire a useful tool and visit Portorož. All students and employees from any member of the University of Primorska are welcome. (Activity led by: Saša Planinc, UP FTŠ Turistica)
- Body composition measurement | difficulty level 1 | 9.00 – 13.00 | UP FVZ* | SI

- Hypnosis for beginners | difficulty level 1 | 10.00 - 11.30 | UP* | SI
Theoretical part: Debunking myths – misconceptions about hypnosis and how it works. Presentation of what hypnosis is and what it is not. Practical part: Guided hypnosis experience. Sharing experiences. Number of participants limited to 15. (Activity led by: Mateja Vodopija, UP)
- Stitches for sustainability - workshop on decorating clothes with embroidery | difficulty level 1 | 10.00 – 12.00 | Armerija Hall | SI/ENG
The workshop on embroidering small decorations onto clothes has two advantages. One is socializing while doing handicrafts, which is a traditional way of connecting people. The other is the fact that we are less likely to discard clothes that we have put a part of ourselves into, thus contributing to the pressing issue of excessive shopping and clothing waste.
Participants should bring their own base material (a piece of clothing – preferably a sturdy fabric such as denim, canvas, shirts, or canvas bags), and if they have their own embroidery supplies (hoop, needles, scissors, thread), they are welcome to bring them, otherwise a limited quantity will be available. Water-soluble stickers with flowers and yarn will be available (if anyone wants a specific color, we recommend the Marjanca store on Čevljarski). Basic knowledge is recommended but not required.
Students are also very welcome. (Activity led by: Martina Marušič Kos, UP)
- A calm mind on a turbulent day – mindfulness workshop | difficulty level 1 | 14.00-15.00 | UP Famnit* | SI
Do you often feel stressed when lectures, exams, and obligations pile up? In this workshop, you will learn the basics of mindfulness through a short presentation and simple exercises that can help you calm your thoughts, increase your concentration, and find a moment for yourself even in the middle of a busy day. (Activity led by: Nina Krohne, UP IAM)
LECTURE
- ETHICS DAY 2025: Ethics in the age of generative artificial intelligence: responsible use and regulatory frameworks | difficulty level 1 | 12.00 | ZOOM | SI/ENG
Recent research shows that around 90% of students use generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) in their studies, while 50-70% of researchers do so. The challenge is not to restrict its use, but to ensure the ethical and competent use of GenAI. Therefore, in collaboration with the Commission for Ethics in Research Involving Human Subjects (KER UP) and the Center for Responsible Artificial Intelligence (CeResAI UP), we have prepared a lecture. We will present the FRAME system, which offers practical guidelines and recommendations for the thoughtful and responsible integration of GenUI into the educational and research environment of the University of Primorska. (Activity carried out by: Prof. Dr. Vita Poštuvan and Prof. Dr. Ernest Ženko, more information: Dr. Tjaša Vidmar).
