Extension of the Call for Young Researchers at UP in 2026
The University of Primorska has extended its call for applications for Young Researchers, who will undergo a four-year training program consisting of a research and study component
Selected candidates will be employed on a full-time basis under an employment contract for a period of up to four years. Each Young Researcher will conduct a research project under the supervision of a mentor, with the project integrated into the research programme of the relevant member of the University of Primorska.
With the extended deadline, candidates may apply until 31 July 2026 for the following positions in the field of Mathematics:
- Assist. Prof. Dr. Slobodan Filipovski – Research field: Mathematics; Research Programme P1-0285: Algebra, Discrete Mathematics, Probability Theory, and Game Theory (UP IAM).
- Dr. Aleksander Simonič – Research field: Mathematics; Research Programme P1-0404: Mathematical Modelling and Encryption: From Theoretical Concepts to Everyday Applications (UP FAMNIT).
Applicants must have completed a second-cycle (Master's) study programme within the last four years and have achieved a minimum average grade of 8.0, including the grade awarded for the Master's thesis.
Only one candidate may be selected per mentor. If more than one candidate applies for the same mentor, candidates will be ranked according to their total score, and the candidate with the highest total score will be selected. If two candidates achieve the same score, preference will be given to the candidate belonging to the underrepresented gender in the relevant research field, provided that there is a gender imbalance among researchers at the University of Primorska in that field (defined as a distribution exceeding 60%/40% in favour of one gender).
The application deadline is 31 July 2026 (inclusive), by the end of the day.
