Dr. Andrej Brodnik awarded with the Lifetime Achievement Award
Dr. Andrej Brodnik, employed at UP IAM and UP FAMNIT Department of Information Sciences and Technologies, was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 26th Information Society Multi-Conference. The conference, held at the Jozef Stefan Institute from 10-13 October, concluded with the award ceremony.
This prestigious accolade recognized Dr Brodnik's exceptional and enduring contributions to advancing the information society. Having earned his PhD from the University of Waterloo in Canada, he has actively participated in professional organizations, notably ACM Slovenia. He played a pivotal role in fostering computer science education in Slovenia, particularly in secondary and primary schools, as well as in competitions for secondary school students. His primary research areas encompass concise data structures, ubiquitous computing, and the pedagogy of computing and informatics.
Dr Brodnik's impact on the establishment of the University of Primorska, where he served as Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs from 2003 to 2007 and currently serves on the UP Senate, has been substantial. Throughout his career, he has received numerous international and national awards, including the Innovation Cup in Sweden, the IBM Faculty Award, the Golden Plaques of the UL and the UP, and the Prize for Outstanding Achievement in Higher Education of the Republic of Slovenia.
