Bled Conference and the 150th anniversary of the birth of the father of Slovenian mathematics
The Slovenian mathematicians' conference, hosting approximately 100 participants, took place on September 15 and 16, 2023, at the Bled Festival Hall. The event was co-organized by the Mathematics Committee of DMFA, UP FAMNIT, the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics at the University of Ljubljana, and Abelium, under the auspices of the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts (SAZU).
This conference held a special significance as it commemorated the 150th anniversary of the birth of Josip Plemelj, the founding figure in Slovenian mathematics. The inaugural segment of the conference was dedicated to Plemelj, featuring talks by Prof. Milan Hladnik, Prof. Franc Forstnerič, and Assoc. Prof. Željko Oset.
Noteworthy lectures included

The opening session of the Plemelj mini-symposium featured addresses from Prof. Peter Štih, the president of SASA, Prof. Gregor Majdič, UL rector, and Mr. Anton Mežan, the mayor of Bled.
The conference also spotlighted recent significant achievements in Slovenian mathematics and showcased the work of promising young researchers. Furthermore, the event presented advancements in various mathematical domains, including applied mathematics. The pedagogical aspect featured presentations on professional topics related to teaching mathematics and physics, totaling 16 contributions in the research application section and 17 in the pedagogical section.
Researchers from UP IAM and UP FAMNIT, including Dr. Nino Bašić, Dr. Karla Ferjančič, Dr. Nastja Cepak, Prof. Štefko Miklavič, and Prof. Vito Vitrih, actively participated in the conference.
