PUBLICATIONS

Ars Mathematica Contemporanea (AMC) is a peer-reviewed scientific journal covering the field of discrete mathematics in relation to other branches of mathematics. It is published by the University of Primorska together with the Institute of Mathematics and Physics and the Slovenian Association of Mathematicians, Physicists and Astronomers.

The journal publishes high-profile papers in modern mathematics, especially in the field of discrete mathematics. Articles also cover algebra, geometry, topology, theoretical computer science and combinatorics. AMC was first included in the list of mathematical journals with an impact factor in 2011, and since then has been twice ranked in both the second and third quarter (rising from a 2012 IF 0.667 to 2014 IF 0.742). 2015, SCI (Science Citation Index) ranked Ars Mathematica Contemporanea in the top quarter of mathematics journals with an impact factor of 0.985. AMC ranked 60th among the 312 mathematics journals included in the ISI, and is the first Slovenian journal to enter this elite top quarter of scientific journals.

The steady increase of the journal's visibility also requires maintaining or increasing the quality of the papers published. As a result of the high standards, the editorial board accepts less than one third of the manuscripts received, a number decreasing even further with its recent success.

The online edition of AMC is open to all and can be accessed on the journal's website. The publication of the journal is co-financed by the Slovenian Research Agency (ARRS).

In cooperation with UP FAMNIT and the Slovenian Society for Discrete and Applied Mathematics, we also publish the international mathematics journal The Art of Discrete and Applied Mathematics (ADAM).

ADAM is a contemporary, high-quality online open access international scientific journal in the field of discrete and applied mathematics. It is published twice a year in English, with abstracts in Slovene. In addition to articles, it also provides data results from research and computer programs for reading, writing and processing these data. The journal publishes shorter papers, as well as longer, review articles, or catalogues of selected structures. It covers a wide range of topics in discrete and applied mathematics (graph theory, combinatorics, algorithmic graph theory, combinatorial optimisation) and its applications in science.

Published papers are subject to international peer review. In addition to regular issues, ADAM publishes thematic issues. All articles in the journal are under CC copyright.

BOOKS AND MONOGRAPHS

Andrej Marušič: Javno duševno zdravje
With the book Public Mental Health, Slovenia has an exceptional text on the dimensions of mental health and mental disorders, a text that is an exemplary example of professional excellence. Only an expert of the greatest capacity, the greatest scientific erudition and the greatest organisational commitment is capable of writing it. And the much too recently deceased Andrej Marušič (1965 - 2008) was undoubtedly that person. This concise book ingeniously combines depth, clarity and readability. It clearly shows the guidelines and the foundations that constitute a public mental health concept at a level that can be the envy of countries with the most developed health systems. The work undertaken by Associate Professor Andrej Marušič and his colleagues has raised the quality of the concept of public mental health several notches, not least because it is also based on a superior knowledge of human personality and interpersonal differences. I think Hans Eysenck (1916-1997), one of the greatest experts on the human personality of all time, was proud of the work of his former PhD student (if I am not mistaken, Andrej Marušič was even his last PhD student at University College London). From the foreword by Prof. Dr. Janek Musk.

Andrej Marušič and Sanja Temnik's book Public Mental Health can be ordered directly from the Celjska Mohorjeva družba publishing house. Translations of the book into English, Italian and Serbian can be ordered here.

Diego De Leo: Prelomnice
In this book, Prof. Dr. Diego De Leo takes us on a journey to the limits of reason and points beyond them to the light of a solution. We learn the stories of people who survived a suicide attempt by a lucky combination of circumstances, and of people who lost a loved one to suicide. Their personal stories, presented in the form of letters to the author, reveal the many dimensions of the human spirit, especially its ability to find a way out of the darkest places where all seems lost.

Nejc Šarabon and Matej Voglar: Bolečine v spodnjem delu hrbta: struktura, funkcija, ergonimija in gibalna terapija
This book focuses on the prevention and treatment of lower back pain. The emphasis is on the integration of knowledge of anatomy, biomechanics, modern diagnostic methods and the causes of trunk pathologies in the context of the most exposed occupations.

Vita Poštuvan: Priročnik Pogovor o samomoru
Talking About Suicide is for anyone who, in their work or in their life, encounters individuals who express suicidal distress, as well as for anyone who would like to better understand the process of suicide and empower themselves to talk about life's most difficult issues.

In this work, the author combines her professional and practical experience gained from working with people in distress. The central part of the manual consists of steps for conversation, which serve as a framework and support when we want to address the topic of suicidal distress.

Vita Poštuvan: Znanja, spretnosti in kompetence na področju duševnega zdravja
This scientific monograph addresses the key competences and knowledge needed by psychologists and related professions to address mental health topics. The book was produced as part of the content of the Super Psychologist project.

iŽiv is part of a research project and aims to raise awareness about suicidal behaviour, identify those at risk, take action when someone is in distress and understand grief after sudden death.
iŽiv is the younger brother of the online platform Živ? Živ!, which differs mainly in the way it presents information: iŽiv is an app that provides educational videos and interactive content. Through these, the authors aim to make ways of understanding and preventing suicidal behaviour accessible and interesting to all. The content is divided into sections, which can be viewed by clicking on each section: Getting to know the field, risk of suicidal behaviour, approach, conversation and action, if suicide happens ...
