Prof. Dr. Vita Poštuvan, Deputy Head of the Slovene Centre for Suicide Research at UP IAM and lecturer at the Department of Psychology at UP FAMNIT, participated as a speaker at the UNECE Regional Forum 2025, organised by the UNESCO Regional Office for Science and Culture in Europe.

The web event, entitled Education and well-being for learners: a dynamic nexus for equitable and resilient societies, brought together experts in the field of education and mental health, with the aim of taking a holistic approach to mental well-being in education systems.

In the discussion, Prof. Dr. Vita Poštuvan presented Slovenian good practices in the field of integrating mental health into education policies and highlighted how education systems can contribute to increasing learner resilience, reducing inequalities and promoting inclusive societies. Other speakers were Dr. Anna Mazenod, WHO Academy, and Dr. Edward Duca, Faculty of Education, University of Malta.

Today’s event highlighted the importance of building resilience and reducing disparities in access to education, the link between education and mental health, and introduced participants to effective national strategies in Slovenia and Malta.

The Forum was well attended and contributed to a broader understanding of the importance of mental health in education. Participants highlighted the need for further cooperation and exchange of experiences and good practices between countries.
